The physicians at the Wallace Street Medical Clinic are experienced, compassionate, professional and diverse. Collectively they have more than 100 years of clinical experience and more than 10000 unique patient encounters. They have worked in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Africa and South Africa in a wide variety of clinical settings including inpatient, outpatient, rural, urban, surgical and emergency room settings.
Welcome to Wallace St. Medical Clinic
Our clinic has had many changes, Dr Angela Barreto has moved on to the Family Practice and Dr Harkness has retired with Dr Goodall soon to be retiring in the Spring 2024. We have since also added Dr Ivan Serunkuma, Dr Chidumaga Anyanwu, and Dr Helen Mbata in 2022 and 2023, for a total of 8 physicians.
The Wallace Street Medical Clinic is the newest addition to Nanaimo’s medical community.
It proudly opened its doors in August 1, 2017.
Drs Bell and Tram had worked together at another clinic in Nanaimo. They found that they shared compatible practice styles and philosophies and decided to start a new clinic to care for their patients. Soon after, they were joined by Dr. James McGlynn who was relocating from Prince George.
After owning their own successful clinic and practicing family medicine for 30 years, both Dr. Goodall and Dr. Harkness have joined our Wallace Clinics’ team of qualified physicians. Dr. R Lorne Goodall comes to us with his special interest in Sports Medicine, accepting referrals from local physicians. The Wallace Street Medical Clinic provides the following services

At the Wallace Street Medical Clinic, we recognize the importance of continuity in patient care. That’s why we have implemented a system where each family physician has an assistant. Our assistants are responsible for calling our patients and relaying information between physician and patient, as well as dealing with a specific physician’s referrals. If you have any questions about your care plan, medications, or status of a referral, you can reach out to your physician’s medical office assistant and they would be pleased to do their best to help you. This is not meant to replace an appointment with your doctor .
